PETERBOROUGH, ON – The Peterborough Century 21 Lakers beat the Cobourg Kodiaks 10-8 on Thursday night at the Memorial Centre. It was the Lakers’ second win of the week over Cobourg, having previously beaten them 12-8 on Sunday in Cobourg.
The game was tied 3-3 after the first, and Cobourg led 6-5 after the second. It was another big third period from the Lakers, in which they scored five-straight goals, that was the difference.
“We learned some lessons,” said captain Robert Hope. “The team played hard over there, they got some great goaltending, the back end was tough and they hit their shots when they had them. I think we at times made a lot of mistakes that they capitalized on but we had a good third that helped us out at the end.”
Thomas Hoggarth led Peterborough with a hat trick and one assist. Holden Cattoni and Josh Currier each scored twice and had four assists. Landon Kells made 36 saves in goal for the win.
Former Jr. A Laker Tyler Hendrycks led the Kodiaks with three goals and three assists. Jackson Brown stopped 44 Lakers shots.
The Lakers are on the road this Sunday, June 18th to visit the Brampton Excelsiors, which will be their fifth game in 11 days. They return home next Thursday, June 22nd to host the Six Nations Chiefs.
Tickets for Thursday’s game are on sale at the PMC box office.
