The Peterborough Century 21 Lakers fell to the Six Nations Chiefs 12-7 on Tuesday night at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena.
The game was tied 2-2 midway through the first but an eight-goal run by Six Nations sank the Lakers. A shorthanded goal from Carter Page stopped the run late in the second, and the Lakers finished the period on a two-goal run of their own, down by six.
Joe Resetarits led the Lakers with a hat trick and two assists, while Koleton Marquis scored twice and added two assists. The Chiefs were led by Lyle Thompson’s four goals and one assist. Warren Hill got the win in goal. Doug Buchan was lifted in favour of Landon Kells after the Chiefs’ ninth goal.
With the loss, the Lakers cannot finish higher than third place, and could still be passed by the Oakville Rock who have three games left.
Only one game remains in the regular season for the Lakers, who will host the Brampton Excelsiors on Thursday night at 8 p.m. at the Memorial Centre. It’s Little Lakers Night in support of Five Counties Children’s Centre. Tickets for Thursday’s game are on sale at the Memorial Centre.
